WELCOME TO

C.E.P.A. SAN MARTÍN DE VALDEIGLESIAS

This institution has a local sphere of activity. It is set in the southwest of Madrid, comprising ten towns which have merged together under the name Mancomunidad de los Pinares:

  Aldea del Fresno

  Cadalso de los Vidrios

  Cenicientos

  Chapinería

  Colmenar del Arroyo

  Navas del Rey

  Pelayos de la Presa

  Rozas de Puerto Real

  San Marín de Valdeiglesias (Headquarters)

  Villa del Prado

These towns are not too far away from each other, which makes communication easy among the people who live in them. However, communication to San Martín de Valdeiglesias can only be carried out from four out of these towns (CEVESA busline), since the other line of transport has no points in commom with the previous one. The landscape of this area is very rich in vegetation: vineyards, pine groves, ilexes, chesnut groves stand out above other kinds of vegetation. The tourist activity is very important in all these towns, since churches, castles, palaces and old houses have been preserved. We should mention the typical products of this area: wine, figs, raisins, chesnut, hand-made pastry and vegetable garden products. This rural area, which is a bit far away from the capital, had the advantage of not being polluted and is related to other towns which belong to other autonomous communities: Castilla-León and Castilla-La Mancha. The pupils who come to this institution are:

Advanced in years people, mainly women who want to acquire or keep up a basic education.

Young people who were not able to get the title of Graduate in Secondary Education and now are willing to obtain it.

Rather young unemployed people, who want to gain access to the labour world and have registered in vocational workshops financed by the European Social Funding.

Middle aged people aiming at a more specific education: Computer Science, Languages, ...
