A DESCRIPTION OF OUR MUSIC ROOM
Our center has a classroom situated on the ground floor, prepared for the development of the Music, with materials belonging to the Area of Artistic Education along with Arts and Dramatization. In our center music class is taken from 3 years old until the end of the primary. During the summer of 2008 construction was done to better soundproof the classroom. In the classroom we focus on the area of music from three different approaches: - The explanation of all the concepts related to Musical Language and History of Music (the theory of music, the life and works of composers, and hearing musical instruments, classical, and popular pieces). - The training in singing and the instrumental formation, is where the students, apart from singing, learn to play the flute as a melodic instrument along with all kinds of instruments of small percussion. This training helps them develop some form of use of thier rhythmic - instrumental skills (with instruments made of leather/skin, metal, and wood). In this classroon we also offer a wide range of instruments and music sheets for the accomplishment of harmonic accompaniment (xylophones, metaphones and carillons in all of their pitches), apart from guitar and piano, these are instruments that allow the teacher to play aong with the students in songs and exercises of intonation. - The classroom has a wide open narrow space where, besides the movement and dance, the students develop their rhythmic sense. Likewise, this space is also used to proctor tests for our Choir and Flute Group.
Finally, we would like to indicate that the musical
events of the school take place in the gymnasium or on the courtyard,
depending on the weather we are having on that day.
The computer room is situated on the first floor. It consists of 12 computers for the use of the students and another for the teacher. All are equipped with many educational games. Since the initiation of the use of the computer room, it has been used more as a didactic and motivational resource serving the teacher and the students in many different curricular areas, rather than for the teaching of the use of the technology itself. With this goal in mind, the instructors include in their programmes the educational objectives, contents and activities that they are going to accomplish in the session that will take place in the computer room.
Our library is found on the first floor. The books in it are catalogued by age appropriateness. A colour has been assigned for each level: Ø Red is for the new readers: infant and first cycle. Ø Green is for the children in the second cycle. Ø Yellow is for the older students and better readers. Because in past years this center had children up to 14 years old, there are books that remain that are adequate for that level. Also there are quite a few books that are appropriate for the students and the teachers alike. In the library there is a borrowing system. Therefore, each student is issued a library card. With it every Monday and Wednesday from October to May, from 16:00 to 17:00 hours, they can borrow a book to take home. A mother from the AMPA attends to this service. The borrowing time is for 15 days. If you arrive on the 15th day and you have not finished reading the book, don´t worry, pass by the library again and renew it. And there you have it...another 15 days!! You have to take care of the book as much as possible so that many other children can read it.
Here we learn and we have fun.
The education of the courtyard, sometimes, is more difficult to assimilate to than the concepts explained in the classroom.
We learn: to play, to cooperate and
take part with others, in forming part of a team, to be able to
lose and to win, to respect the opinions and tastes of others,
not to wanting to impose our ideas...
