"MATHS FOR ALL" IS  A COMENIUS PROJECT 1.3

FINANCED BY  EUROPEAN UNION

‘Maths for all’ involves three aspects:

Investigation process, developing methods process and communication and evaluation process. Each aspect involves precise and common activities for each project year. The project is a tool for developing teaching strategies for Maths.

Year 1:

Investigate numbers and numeration system and methods used in solving problems.

Develop teaching methods by observing teaching and comparing the curriculum of participating schools.

Year 2:

We want to develop teaching methods, compare curriculum, look at how number operations and strategies used in problem solving are taught in partner schools. Activities will involve the same three aspects as in the first year: Investigation process, Developing methods process and Communication and evaluation process. The project’s activities will be realised in everyday teaching with respect to National Curricula to improve the quality of education.

Teachers will keep in close contact via internet and through meetings. They will discuss, exchange ideas and learn from each other’s experiences. Teachers and principals will visit Poland for a period in Spring 2008 in order to exchange information and evaluate the project. Teacher exchange will take place between Turkey and Poland.

Our product for year 2 will be a booklet with collection of ideas for problem solving activities.

Year 3:

Develop teaching methods with focus on measurement, geometry and fractions. Activities in school will involve the same three aspects and activities as before. The final product will be a summary of activities undertaken including photos, a power point presentation outlining the development of the mathematics curriculum.
