IES “CIUDAD DE JAEN”.   MADRID

The bilingual project in our school:

IES Ciudad de Jaén is one of the eleven schools in the Community of Madrid that offers bilingual education in English and Spanish.

The bilingual project offers its students a unique opportunity to develop a deeper knowledge of the English language while they complete their required secondary school classes.

This project lasts from the first year through to the fourth year of their required secondary school education.  The program’s first year of implementation was during the academic year 2005/2006 with students in their first year of secondary education.

The Bilingual Project was made possible thanks to the participation of the Ministry of Education, the British Council and the Community of Madrid; all of whom started the program in 1996.  This partnership put bilingual education into practice at 10 schools in the community, among others at the Ciudad de Jaén primary school, whose students now attend the secondary school.
